It’s been awhile since I posted regarding this project. I’m so close to finishing the coloring on the pages! I’ve been concentrating on keeping my head down and focusing on getting the work done. Every month I do a dump of the pages to show my editor, and she’s happy with my progress, so that’s encouraging!
Still working on this when I have time.
Publisher’s Weekly: Rights Report for Week of March 21, 2016
Robin Herrera at Oni Press has acquired world rights to the middle grade graphic novel Little Witches: Magic in Concord by Leigh Dragoon. A retelling of Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women, the graphic novel follows Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy as witches-in-training. When Mr. Laurence, a witchfinder, moves in next door with his grandson to investigate renegade magic, the girls get caught up in the action. Publication is scheduled for 2018.
Working on a piece in Manga Studio/Photoshop.
I’m still chugging along! Man, perspective and windows are a pain. :P
I love drawing Jo and Laurie. :)
Completed: 24 out of 138 Pages
Got the first 15 pages inked and turned in to my editor! :D
I mocked up my Little Women set in Sketchup! So far I’ve just set up the kitchen and the living room. Sketchup’s been a great help – I can export images at any angle I want, then load those images into MangaStudio and use them as a quick reference to help set up perspective lines and such. It’s been a great help when it comes to keeping things where they’re supposed to be and with elements I tend to have a difficult time drawing, like windows and doors.
All four girls. Left to right, Meg, Amy, Beth, and Jo.
Promo art for my Little Women graphic novel adaptation, forthcoming from Oni Press — I’m providing the art and script. From left to right: Meg, Beth, and Jo, with Amy in the foreground.
